Sharepoint 2010 Error Opening Root Site Page

with 2 comments

We got strange error after installing SP1 for SharePoint 2010.

When opening root site page we got an error “Server error in ‘/’ application”.

Source Error:

An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

Stack Trace:
[NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]
Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.UserProfileApplicationProxy.get_ApplicationProperties() +134
Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.UserProfileApplicationProxy.get_PartitionIDs() +44
Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.UserProfileApplicationProxy.IsAvailable(SPServiceContext serviceContext) +329

Fast, and may be not correct, solution is delete User Profile Service Application and restart IIS (iisreset).

I’ll ckeck solution with re-creation this service and update this post then….

  1. I have the same issue. After upgrade to SP1 (also install hot fixes of March 2012) I found that my sites (besides Central Administratoin) is not accessible anymore. It happens with the same error and your solution helps… Do you have any progress to find the way of re-creation UPS application with error resolving?
